This course will assist managers, supervisors, and safety personnel to look more closely at the workplace and determine if controls are adequate, and actions to take to correct known deficiencies. Consideration of guarding, ventilation systems, lift truck, scissors and lift/booms, overhead cranes, racking, paint dispensing equipment, hand tools and other items should be included in a review. Employers have a legal responsibility to know workplace hazards and to take all reasonable precautionary measures for worker safety.

Participants will:

  • Understand the various legal requirements placed upon workplace parties for establishing and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Learn how and when to conduct a job safety analysis (JSA). The introduction of, or changes to processes, equipment and machinery necessitate the need for a JSA.
  • Learn how to conduct a step-by-step review of a process to identify both existing and potential hazards. Areas for review include ergonomic, energy sources, chemical agents, physical agents, biological agents, machinery, and material handling.
  • Become familiar with the various types of preventative measures to take including the need for establishing work instructions, designing engineering controls (guarding), workstation redesigns to prevent ergonomic injuries, and training.

Interactive presentations, group exercises, training videos, including, where permitted, a video of your processes. Hands on application of a J.S.A. of a Company process at your site providing training is conducted onsite.
